Frequently asked questions about Kabrita’s Goat Milk-Based formulas.

About Kabrita

Kabrita is proudly made in the Netherlands using milk from over 100 Dutch family-run goat farms. Kabrita introduced our goat milk-based infant formula to the U.S. market in 2024 and is the first and only European and goat milk-based infant formula to meet all US FDA requirements. Our infant formula provides an ideal source of protein that is easier to digest than cow milk proteins. Our team of nutritionists, researchers, and food scientists have carefully added evidence-based ingredients, such as iron, folic acid, high sn-2 palmitic acid, DHA, ARA, and prebiotics to optimize nutrition.
Kabrita USA is powered by Ausnutria, a Dutch dairy company with over 75 years of formula expertise. Through Ausnutria, we own the entire supply chain, from farm to formula. Our manufacturing facility in the Netherlands is FDA-registered and adheres to rigorous safety protocols, including over 90 quality checks to ensure the highest safety and quality standards.
While our Kabrita formula is not currently certified USDA organic, our no-GMO goat milk-based formula is produced in Europe, where strict regulations already limit the use of antibiotics, hormones, and pesticides, and govern animal welfare.
Yes! Kabrita Goat Milk-Based Infant Formula has gone through the complete FDA review process. As part of this process, we presented the FDA with results from our clinical trial, proving with a randomized, double-blind controlled clinical trial that the product is safe and suitable for use in infants from birth onwards and supports healthy growth. Our team of scientists published this research, which we encourage you to review. In June of 2023, the FDA officially sent us the ‘no further questions’ letter and gave us the green light to sell our product. Kabrita Goat Milk-Based Infant Formula is the first and only European and goat milk-based infant formula brand to meet all FDA infant formula requirements.
Kabrita specifically designed our goat milk-based infant formula for healthy, full-term infants. As with all powdered infant formulas, Kabrita infant formula is not sterile. Therefore, it should only be fed to premature infants or those with compromised immune systems if under the explicit direction and supervision of the healthcare provider.

Nutrition and Ingredients

Our infant formula is designed to meet the nutritional needs of healthy term infants 0-12 months of age. This product has undergone extensive FDA review and meets all the requirements. FDA review includes conducting a clinical trial on our product and getting the formal ‘no further questions’ letter from the FDA. Kabrita Toddler formula is not subject to FDA review. There are also changes in the micronutrients; for example, the amount of iron in our infant formula is much lower than in our toddler formula.
Scientific and nutrition experts support adding DHA and ARA to infant formula and recommend at least as much ARA as DHA. Kabrita Goat Milk-Based Infant Formula has 15mg of DHA per 100kcal. We add more ARA than DHA to meet the scientific recommendation.
For more information, please visit our blog: https://www.kabritausa.com/blog/behind-label-dha-ara/
Kabrita Goat Milk-Based Infant Formula contains 30.5 mg ARA (arachidonic acid or AA) per 100 kcals. The ratio of DHA and ARA is important since too much DHA may suppress the benefits of ARA. The scientific recommendation is that ARA should be added in at least the same amount as DHA. Kabrita Goat Milk-Based Infant Formula follows this science-based recommendation and has more ARA than DHA.
Kabrita Goat Milk-Based Infant Formula has a whey:casein ratio of 60:40, similar to the ratio found in mature breast milk.
No, Kabrita Goat Milk-Based Infant Formula is not suitable for babies with cow-milk allergies. Children with cow-milk allergies may also react to the protein in goat milk.
The iron content in Kabrita Goat Milk-Based Infant Formula is  1.2mg/100kcal, which is slightly lower than the average US infant formula. Our team of nutrition experts made this decision based on the latest scientific research about iron intake in infants. At 1.2mg per 100kcal, our product follows the scientific recommendations and meets both US and EU infant formula requirements. Rest assured that our clinical trial confirmed that our formulation supports infants' healthy growth and development.
  • INFANT FORMULA: Kabrita Goat Milk-Based Infant Formula contains prebiotics. Goat milk oligosaccharides can promote well-balanced gut microbiota and protect against pathogens. Kabrita’s goat milk naturally contains high levels of Goat Milk Oligosaccharides (gMOS), which act as a prebiotic. We also add galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS), a prebiotic fiber. GOS is the most studied prebiotic and has proven health benefits for infants, such as the ability to stimulate the growth of beneficial bacteria, hamper the growth of pathogenic bacteria, and improve stool consistency.
  • TODDLER FORMULA: Kabrita Goat Milk-Based Toddler Formula contains prebiotics.
  • JUNIOR FORMULA: Kabrita Goat Milk-Based Junior Nutrition contains both prebiotics and probiotics. Kabrita’s goat milk naturally contains high levels of Goat Milk Oligosaccharides (gMOS), which act as prebiotics. We also add inulin as a prebiotic. The probiotic strain in our product is Bifidobacterium animalis ssp lactis, which may support a healthy gut. Each 8-oz serving of Kabrita Junior delivers 26 million CFUs of probiotics.
The purpose of glucose syrup solids in Kabrita is as a technical carrier for specific vitamins and minerals. A carrier helps properly disperse the vitamins and minerals into the recipe without altering their essential function. The carbohydrates in Kabrita Goat Milk-Based Infant Formula mainly consist of lactose, just like in breast milk.
Fat is essential for developing an infant’s brain and vision, supporting the structure of cells, maintaining body temperature, and making hormones. About 20-25% of the fat in breast milk consists of a specific fatty acid called palmitic acid. This fundamental fatty acid has various types; how well it is absorbed depends on its composition and structure. 70% of the palmitic acid in breast milk is in the sn-2 palmitic acid form, which we use in Kabrita Goat Milk-Based Infant Formula. sn-2 palmitic acid is a fatty acid derived from palm oil. Scientific evidence shows that infant formula with sn-2 palmitic acid improves calcium absorption, fat absorption, and stool consistency. These benefits are associated with reduced crying, improved sleep duration, bone strength, and enhanced microbiota composition.
